A Little Humor

Okay,, so here it is Holy Week and I remember all too well how busy it is and how little time you have and someone dares to come into your office and let you know of one more sna-foo in the plans for Maundy Thursday or Good Friday services.
(i.e. the guy that was to play Judas in the mini-passion play has just been sent out of town on business and won't be back in time to betray Jesus).
Anyhow, I remembered, oddly enough a funny story to share in my life. This has nothing to do with Easter, Holy Week, Lent, Palm Sunday or anything relevant to now.
This is just a funny story to make you smile even though things may be wild.
Oh, and if you are easily offended at funeral humor, then don't read anymore.
Okay,...
I was the Program Coordinator for a Cancer Support group in my B.S. Life( Before Seminary). We decided to make a custom of sitting together at funeral in support of a member who had died. In the south we call this an Escort of Honor, Honorary Pall Bearers, or Honorary Escort. One fellow had died and I was asked to stand in Narthex to make sure that all of the group was seated together by Funeral Home guys. So, I had my list of the members to look for and I had my program for funeral. So far, so good.
Well, one of the funeral guys comes up to me and says, " Do you have a program?" I said, "Yes, thank you." He then says, " Would you like to be seated?"
Now bear in mind, I am trying to watch for my people coming in to remind them we can sit together and so this guy is in my way and causing me great frustration.
So, in my frustration, I blurt out, " I am with the Escort Service, I have my list and I am waiting on the rest of them, so we can sit together!"
The guy left me alone. I have yet to live that one down with the group.
Oddly enough, Later found out that the man was known for some of his "indiscretions" so having an escort service at his funeral was not entirely out of the ordinary.
This really happened to me and the congregation still supported me towards being ordained. Enjoy the laugh!
